Setsail's Journey to Becoming a B Corp: A Reflection on our Commitment to Sustainability and Social Responsibility

Setsail's Journey to Becoming a B Corp: A Reflection on our Commitment to Sustainability and Social Responsibility

On Friday, May 26th at the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade event, "Building B.C.’s ESG Advantage," Setsail's founder and principal, Jason Atakhanov, found himself in the esteemed company of leaders from across the Canadian business landscape. This pivotal gathering was held at the UBC Robson Square Theatre in Vancouver, and the agenda was centered around the importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles for businesses.

On this notable day, we also announced our B Corp certification status, marking a significant milestone in our journey. We are thrilled to share insights from the event and details about our B Corp certification journey with our community.

A Glimpse of the ESG Advantage Event

The event brought together ESG practitioners and thought leaders to discuss strategies for integrating ESG practices into day-to-day operations, showcasing the importance of training and upskilling the workforce of today and tomorrow. It was indeed an honour for Setsail to share the stage with respected organizations such as the First Nations Financial Management Board, TELUS, and KPMG.

Jason Atakhanov, speaking on behalf of Setsail, emphasized the pivotal role of ESG practices in ensuring long-term business sustainability and resilience. The significance of the event and the high-level discussions underlined our commitment to integrating ESG practices into our operations and our dedication to contribute positively to our community and the broader economy.
