Google API Services User Data
When clients authorize Setsail Marketing to access their data through Google, we receive access tokens that allow us to read specific information from their Google accounts. We disclose below exactly what data we access, how we use it, how we store it, and how clients can revoke access.
What Google data we access
We request the following Google OAuth scopes when a client connects their Google account:
- Google Ads (
adwords) — read campaign performance data (spend, impressions, clicks, conversions) for advertising accounts the client has granted us access to. Used to generate paid-performance reports for the client. - Google Analytics 4 (
analytics.readonly) — read website analytics data (sessions, conversions, traffic sources) for properties the client has granted us access to. Used to generate SEO and performance reports. - Google Search Console (
webmasters.readonly) — read search performance data (queries, clicks, impressions, rankings) for sites the client has granted us access to. Used to generate SEO reports and identify content optimization opportunities. - Google Tag Manager (
tagmanager.readonly) — read container configuration to verify analytics + conversion tracking is correctly installed on client websites. - Google Business Profile (
business.manage) — read and post to the client's Business Profile listings to manage local SEO and respond to reviews on their behalf. - YouTube (
youtube.upload,youtube.readonly) — upload videos to and list channels owned by the client. Used to publish video content as part of their social media service.
How we use Google user data
Google user data is used solely to:
- Generate performance reports delivered to the client
- Manage and publish content on the client's behalf as part of their contracted services
- Display analytics and performance metrics in the client's dashboard within Setsail OS
We do not use Google user data for any other purpose. Specifically, we do not:
- Sell Google user data to any third party
- Use Google user data for advertising, including retargeting or personalized ads
- Use Google user data to train or improve generalized AI/ML models
- Allow humans to read Google user data, except (a) as needed by the client themselves through the dashboard, (b) for security purposes such as investigating abuse, (c) to comply with applicable law, or (d) for internal operations and only with the data that has been aggregated and anonymized
Limited Use compliance
Setsail Marketing's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we store Google user data
OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest in our database using AES-256 encryption. Performance data retrieved from Google APIs (e.g., campaign metrics, analytics rollups) is stored only for the duration needed to generate reports for the client and is retained alongside the client's account record.
Sharing with third parties
We do not share Google user data with any third party, except sub-processors strictly necessary to operate our service (cloud hosting and database providers under standard data processing agreements). A current list of sub-processors is available on request to our privacy officer.
How clients revoke access and delete data
Clients can revoke Setsail Marketing's access to their Google account at any time:
- Visit https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Locate "Setsail OS" in the list of connected apps
- Click "Remove access"
To request deletion of any Google-derived data we have stored, contact our privacy officer at the email address listed in the Contact Information section of this policy.
